Photography and Images - Prices and Fees

Basic Rates for Low Resolution Packshots, for Web and E-Mail Usage.

The main difference in cost between large 300dpi High-res images and small 72dpi Low-res images is the amount of time needed to draw clipping paths, and retouch the image. The other factors such as lighting, positioning, etc remain the same. I can probably shave five minutes off the retouching time, and two minutes off the time taken to draw a clipping path on the low-res image. But to do that I will need to know in advance what size the image will be, on the webpage, measured in pixels by pixels. Often there will be two images needed, a thumbnail, say 100x100 pixels, and a larger image say 300x300 pixels for each item. It will take me about 10 minutes on average to do a packshot, about 5 minutes on average to draw a clipping path, 5 minutes on average to put in a drop shadow after the clipping path has been drawn if that's needed, and about 5 minutes on average to make up a CDRom or DVD disk. This equates to the following fees:

£10 per simple packshot
£4 to £8 per clipping path, depending on the complexity
£5 per drop shadow, if needed
£5 per CD or DVD recording

The high res images will be archived just in case they are needed later for press or poster usage, when extra retouching will have to be done, a finer clipping path drawn, and another drop shadow created on the hi-res image.
